Dual-interface smart card can be fitted with two chips, one with a contact interface and the other with a contactless interface. These features are not interconnected, meaning that each feature provides an independent access to the card.
Additionally, the card can incorporate several RFID chips so that the resulting card can operate at different radio frequencies, typically including 125KHz, 13.56MHz and 915MHz. Below, we list some most popular combinations:
1. Magnetic stripe plus microchip
2. Contact plus contactless interface
3. Two RFID microchips in one card
Application: Bank, school, government and commercial sectors.
