Dual Interface Smart Card
The dual-interface smart card has only one chip but features both contact and contactless interfaces, meaning that a card user can either insert the card into a reader or wave it in front of an RF reader to exchange information.
The contact interface is utilized by the gold-plated electrical chip at one corner of the smart card, whereas the contactless interface uses a built-in inductor circuit to receive and send data through radio waves. In both cases, the reader can transmit the data stored in the dual-interface smart card. The contact and contactless interface components are built to different standards, which are ISO/IEC 7816 and ISO/IEC 14443 respectively.
Card Cube Smart Technology is a worldwide supplier of chip cards. Known for the high level of information security, fast processing capability, and large storage capacity, both FM1216 (16Kbyte) and FM1232 (32Kbyte) dual-interface smart cards are becoming utilized more and more around the world.
