Monofilament synthetic surgical suture composed of glycolide and e-caprolactone copolymer

Poliglecaprone 25 sutures are monofilament synthetic absorbable sutures made from a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. The PGCL polymer has been found to be non-antigenic and non-pyrogenic, causing only a mild tissue reaction during absorption, making it an ideal choice for delicate tissue closure.

Applications

Poliglecaprone 25 sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, but not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues, microsurgery or ophthalmic surgery.

Poliglecaprone sutures absorb by simple hydrolytic mechanism and absorption is predictable.
Poliglecaprone sutures retain about 50 – 60 % of the initial tensile strength at 7 days, 20 – 30 % of the initial tensile strength at 14 days of implantation and the suture is essentially absorbed within 90 – 120 days of implantation.
Poliglecaprone sutures pass through the tissues easily and since the suture is monofilament knotting is very easy.
Poliglecaprone sutures have good knot security and easy knot placement.
Poliglecaprone sutures are available with needles made from 300 series alloy steel for superior strength, sharpness and performance.
Poliglecaprone sutures have excellent tensile strength and needle attachment strength.
