Power Springs, Clock Springs
Power springs are also referred to as clock springs, spiral torsion springs, flat springs and motor springs. Springs are designed for customer specific applications, which can be assembled into a customer’s housing for immediate assembly or supplied with a retaining ring for transferring the spring to a customer’s housing. We provide conventional power springs and pre-stressed power springs to fit your requirement. They are both formed by winding a strip of material on an arbor and into a case or retaining ring to create a compact power source. With a fixed outer end, the central arbor of the power spring can produce torque when twisted. The elastic deformation of the spring material will be caused due to the torque acting on the springs. The deflection angle is proportional to the torque. When in use, the outer end connection of the power spring is used for fixation while the inner end connection is connected with a rotating shaft. The torsion of power spring is produced through the rotating of the shaft. The largest twisting force of the power spring is larger than that of constant force springs of the same size and material. From the linear graph between torque and L, which means the distance from axis to where force is applied, we can obtain that the torque increases firstly and then decreases and the peak is reached when the spring is totally tightened.
